Research Themes研究テーマ
It is believed that by 2025 we will be able to put more transistors on a single chip than there are cells in the human body. Integrated circuits which continue to grow exponentially in sophistication are bringing forth advancement and transformation in our society that is far beyond our imagination. The goal of our research is to develop technology for realizing our dream of a future society enabled by integrated circuits. With an aim at creating electronics that is integrated into our society and environment, we develop integration technology based on near-field coupling, energy-efficient computers, smart sensors, artificial intelligence and power electronics.
Career略歴
Professor Kuroda received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1982, and joined Toshiba Corporation the same year. He was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1988 to 1990. He left Toshiba to join Keio University in 2000, and became a full professor in 2002. He was the Mackay Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2007. He has been a professor at The University of Tokyo since 2019. He is the director of System Design Lab (d.lab) and the chairperson of RaaS. He has presented 40 papers at ISSCC, 29 at VLSI Symposia, 19 at CICC, and 18 at A-SSCC. In addition, he has authored 30 books and holds more than 200 patents. He is a member of the IEEE SSCS Administrative Committee, an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, an IEEE/SSCS Region 10 Representative, an IEEE Fellow, and an IEICE Fellow. He is currently serving as committee chair of VLSI Symposia as well as A-SSCC.
